Description

Timeless Design. Refined Details.

Made to be lived with for years and kept beyond a single season, this large ecru crochet tablecloth is individually handcrafted in Türkiye and belongs to the GOGOLI HEIRLOOM collection.

Its generous rectangular surface is composed of 489 individually crocheted floral motifs. Arranged within a 17 × 29 layout, the motifs come together in a repeating field of flowers, open spaces and delicate joining lines. Four corner positions have been intentionally left open, bringing lightness to the composition and giving the finished outline its distinctive character.

Each motif was worked separately from fine Anchor 26/6 mercerised cotton thread before being brought together by hand. The making of the piece therefore extends far beyond its final dimensions: hundreds of individual centres, outer petals, thread endings, joining points and small tension decisions are held within one continuous textile.

The mercerised cotton gives the crochet stitches clarity and a gentle lustre, while the warm ecru colour allows the detailed surface to remain quiet, balanced and timeless. From a distance, the tablecloth creates a soft architectural layer across the table. Seen closely, every flower reveals the patient handwork from which the larger composition was formed.

With its substantial length and intricate openwork, the piece may be used across a dining table for considered gatherings or displayed as a singular handmade textile within the home.

THE MAKING PROCESS

This tablecloth was created through repetition, but never through haste.

Every floral motif began as a separate piece. Each one had to be crocheted individually, completed to the appropriate form and then positioned within the larger arrangement. Only after hundreds of motifs had been made could the full scale and rhythm of the tablecloth begin to emerge.

The four open corners form part of the original design. They are not missing motifs or unfinished areas; they introduce breathing space at the edges and soften the transition between the rectangular body and the surrounding surface.

Working at this scale with fine cotton thread requires consistency across thousands of stitches while still preserving the character of genuine handwork. The finished textile carries that balance between order and individuality throughout its entire surface.

MEASUREMENTS

Measurements are taken with the tablecloth laid flat.

• Width: approximately 126 cm
• Length: approximately 222 cm
• Motif layout: 17 × 29
• Total number of motifs: 489
• Four intentionally open corner positions

Please review all measurements before purchasing and compare them with the dimensions of the table on which the piece will be used.

HANDMADE CHARACTER

Every GOGOLI piece is made individually by hand. Slight variations in motif dimensions, crochet tension, joining points, floral alignment, openwork spacing, edge shape and finished measurements are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because the tablecloth is formed from hundreds of separately crocheted elements, small differences may become visible when the textile is examined closely. These are not manufacturing faults; they preserve the presence of the hand throughout the work and make the finished piece subtly unique.

The fine openwork may settle differently depending on the shape and dimensions of the table beneath it. Arrange the edges gently after placing the tablecloth so that the motifs and open corners fall naturally.

The appearance of the ecru colour may vary slightly depending on lighting conditions and individual screen settings.

Created motif by motif and brought together with patience, this HEIRLOOM piece was made not simply to cover a table, but to become part of the memories gathered around it.

Care

Protect the fine openwork surface from jewellery, rough objects, hooks, fastenings and table edges that may catch or pull the cotton thread.

For everyday care, gently remove loose dust and attend to small marks locally where possible. For full cleaning, hand wash only when necessary in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Do not bleach, scrub, twist, wring or soak for prolonged periods.

Because of its generous size and hand-joined motif construction, support the full weight of the tablecloth whenever it is wet. Do not lift or carry it from a single motif, corner or edge.

Gently press out excess water between clean towels. Lay completely flat on a clean, supported surface and carefully arrange the motifs, joining points, edges and four open corners while damp. Allow to dry fully away from direct heat and strong sunlight.

Do not tumble dry. If light pressing is required, use a low temperature from the reverse side with a clean protective cloth and avoid stretching the openwork.

Store clean, completely dry and carefully folded, with the weight evenly supported. Avoid long-term hanging and do not place sharp or heavy objects directly on top.

Design

Designed as a large-scale composition of repetition, delicacy and patient handwork, this ecru crochet tablecloth is formed from 489 individually crocheted floral motifs.

The motifs are arranged in a 17 × 29 layout and joined by hand to create a continuous openwork surface measuring approximately 126 × 222 cm. Four intentionally open corner positions soften the rectangular outline and introduce a distinctive architectural rhythm to the finished piece.

Worked from fine Anchor 26/6 mercerized cotton thread, the tablecloth has a gently lustrous surface that brings clarity to the floral pattern while preserving the quiet warmth of its ecru colour.

Every motif, joining point and thread ending forms part of the construction. The result is not simply a decorative covering, but a singular textile created to hold its place within the GOGOLI HEIRLOOM collection.
