Description

Timeless Design. Refined Details.

Created as a singular study in colour, weight and handwork, this multicolour crochet cardigan is individually crafted in Türkiye and belongs to the GOGOLI ATELIER collection.

Its colour transitions do not come from a variegated or pre-dyed gradient yarn. Throughout the making process, five separate fine polyester lace threads were held together and crocheted as though they were one. As the cardigan progressed, the individual threads were changed one by one, allowing each new combination to carry traces of the colours before it.

At no stage were the five threads held together in exactly the same colour composition. The surface therefore moves gradually through misted blues, soft greens, pinks, lilacs, warm earth tones and deeper shaded sections without forming rigid colour blocks. Every transition was composed by hand while the piece was being made.

Worked predominantly in single crochet, the five-thread construction gives the cardigan a substantial, closely formed texture and a finished weight of approximately 737 g. The body and sleeves retain a clear silhouette, while the layered colours give the surface depth that changes gently with light and movement.

A contrasting hand-crocheted front placket brings warmer tones through the centre of the piece. It is finished with six functional buttons, all of which open and close, allowing the cardigan to be worn fastened, partially open or fully open as a layered piece.

This is not a colour arrangement that can be recreated from a fixed formula. A future ATELIER piece may explore a similar process, but this exact sequence, balance and progression of colour belongs only to this cardigan.

THE ATELIER PROCESS

This cardigan was developed directly through the act of making. The colours were not planned as separate stripes and then assembled; they were blended continuously through changing groups of five threads.

When one thread was replaced, four colours from the previous combination remained. Further changes gradually altered the balance until a new colour atmosphere emerged. This method allowed each section to grow naturally from the one before it, preserving continuity while ensuring that no combination was repeated in exactly the same way.

The finished piece records those decisions across its entire surface. Its colour is not applied decoration—it is part of the cardigan’s construction.

HANDMADE CHARACTER

Every GOGOLI piece begins and continues in our hands. Slight variations in crochet tension, colour distribution, surface texture, edge alignment and finished measurements are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because five fine threads were worked together, individual colours may appear more prominent in certain stitches or areas. These subtle changes are an essential part of the layered composition and should not be considered inconsistencies.

The substantial weight of the cardigan may allow the garment to settle gently with wear. Supported handling, careful folding and appropriate storage will help preserve its proportions.

The appearance and intensity of the colours may vary slightly depending on lighting conditions and individual screen settings.

Made without repetition and shaped by hundreds of individual colour decisions, this ATELIER piece is waiting to find its way to you—and its story will continue only once.

Care

Protect from jewellery, rough surfaces and fastenings that may catch or pull the fine crochet threads.

Hand wash only when necessary in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Do not bleach, soak for prolonged periods, rub, twist or wring. Keep the six buttons fastened during washing to reduce unnecessary movement around the front placket.

Because the cardigan has a substantial finished weight, support the entire garment while wet. Gently press out excess water between clean towels, reshape the neckline, placket, body and sleeves, and dry completely on a flat surface away from direct heat and strong sunlight.

Do not tumble dry. If light pressing is necessary, use a low temperature from the reverse side with a clean protective cloth. Do not apply direct heat to the buttons.

Store clean, completely dry and folded. Avoid long-term hanging, as the weight of the five-thread crochet construction may gradually alter the shoulders and overall length.

Design

Designed as a one-of-a-kind study in colour, texture and handwork, this crochet cardigan was created by holding five separate fine polyester lace threads together and working them as a single strand.

The five-colour composition was continually adjusted throughout the making process. Individual threads were replaced one by one, allowing each section to carry traces of the colours before it while gradually developing a new tonal balance. No two stages were worked with exactly the same five-colour combination.

The resulting gradient is not produced by a pre-dyed or variegated yarn. Every transition was composed by hand as the cardigan developed, giving the surface its layered depth and unrepeatable character.

Worked predominantly in single crochet, the cardigan is finished with a contrasting hand-crocheted front placket and six fully functional buttons. This exact colour sequence and composition cannot be reproduced, making the piece a singular work within the GOGOLI ATELIER collection.
