Description

Timeless Design. Refined Details.

Created as a lasting composition of colour, repetition and patient handwork, this large handmade crochet blanket is individually crafted in Türkiye and belongs to the GOGOLI HEIRLOOM collection.

Its generous surface is formed from 204 square crochet motifs, arranged in a 17 × 12 layout and joined individually by hand. Each motif develops through several separate colour sections: the yarn is changed repeatedly to build the floral centre, surrounding contrast and defined outer frame.

Unlike a blanket worked continuously from a single yarn, every motif required its own sequence of colour decisions, thread changes and finishing points. Soft pinks, lilacs, blues, corals, greens, creams and deeper tones appear within the floral centres, while dark joining lines and warm yellow borders bring the individual pieces together into one balanced composition.

The finished blanket is surrounded by contrasting crochet borders. A narrower border completes the upper edge, while deeper borders along the sides and lower edge give the piece visual weight and a distinctive framed finish.

Completed over approximately **two years—across two summers and two winters—**this blanket grew slowly, motif by motif. Work progressed more gently during the warmer months, when its increasing scale and weight made long crochet sessions less comfortable. It was never rushed. Each colour change, joining point and border was given the time the piece required.

THE MAKING PROCESS

This blanket was not created from identical motifs worked in a single colour sequence.

Within every square, the yarn was changed repeatedly as the floral centre developed. Each new section required the previous thread to be finished, a new colour to be introduced and the motif to continue without disturbing its shape or tension.

Once completed, the individual motifs were arranged across the full surface and joined by hand. The surrounding borders were then worked separately to bring the 204 pieces into one finished textile.

The result carries both repetition and individuality: the motifs belong together, yet each one preserves its own small arrangement of colour.

Measurements are taken with the blanket laid flat on a firm surface.

HANDMADE CHARACTER

Every GOGOLI piece is made individually by hand. Slight variations in motif dimensions, crochet tension, colour placement, joining points, border width, texture and finished measurements are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because the motifs were worked through repeated yarn changes, small differences in the placement and proportion of individual colours may appear throughout the blanket. These variations are part of the making process and give each section its own quiet presence within the larger composition.

Due to its generous scale, the blanket may settle gently according to the surface beneath it. Supported handling, careful folding and appropriate storage will help preserve its structure.

The appearance and intensity of the colours may vary slightly depending on lighting conditions and individual screen settings.

Made slowly across two summers and two winters, this HEIRLOOM piece is now waiting to find its place and continue its story with you.

Care

Protect the crochet surface from jewellery, rough materials, hooks, pet claws and objects that may catch or pull the yarn.

For full cleaning, hand wash only when necessary in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Wash separately and avoid prolonged soaking, as the blanket contains multiple colours and yarns. Do not bleach, scrub, twist or wring.

Because of its generous size and handmade joined construction, support the full weight of the blanket whenever it is wet. Do not lift or carry it from a single edge or motif.

Gently press out excess water between clean towels, then lay the blanket flat on a clean, supported surface. Carefully reshape the motifs, joining lines and surrounding borders while damp and allow it to dry completely away from direct heat and strong sunlight.

Do not tumble dry or iron. Store clean and completely dry, folded with the weight evenly supported. Avoid long-term hanging and do not place heavy objects on top.

Design

Designed as the most labour-intensive blanket in the current GOGOLI HEIRLOOM collection, this large textile is constructed from 204 individually crocheted floral motifs.

Each motif was developed through repeated yarn changes, allowing the floral centre, contrasting sections and outer frame to emerge as separate layers of colour. The motifs were then arranged in a 17 × 12 composition and joined individually by hand, with dark connecting lines bringing definition to the full surface.

Contrasting yellow borders complete the blanket, with a narrower finish along the upper edge and deeper borders along the sides and lower edge. This difference in scale gives the piece a distinct visual direction rather than a uniform frame.

Completed slowly over approximately two years, across two summers and two winters, the blanket records hundreds of individual colour, joining and finishing decisions. Its exact arrangement belongs only to this piece and cannot be reproduced identically.
