Description

heirloom bed linenTimeless Design. Refined Details.

Handcrafted in Türkiye, this white cotton bed linen set brings together soft plain-weave cotton fabric, hand-crocheted cotton lace and decorative piko/sarma finishing in a restrained HEIRLOOM composition.

The set includes one bed sheet and two matching pillowcases.

Unlike a traditional lace border added beyond the edge of the textile, the crochet lace in this design is stitched directly onto the cotton fabric. On the bed sheet, two approximately 8 cm-wide lace sections run along the long sides, positioned 2 cm in from the outer edges. Because the lace is applied on top of the fabric, it does not increase the overall dimensions of the sheet.

The lace placement also leaves the head and foot areas intentionally plain. At the head end, 39 cm of uninterrupted cotton remains visible; the central lace section extends for approximately 170 cm; and the final 33 cm at the foot end returns to plain fabric. This measured transition between unembellished cotton and handmade lace gives the surface a quieter, more architectural rhythm.

The two pillowcases continue the same idea on a smaller scale. Each measures 56 × 49 cm, with approximately 8 cm of hand-crocheted lace applied along the 49 cm opening side, inset 2 cm from the edge. As with the sheet, the lace is stitched onto the fabric and does not add to the finished dimensions.

Decorative wave-pattern machine stitching — traditionally referred to as piko/sarma — is used to complete selected edges and create a clean transition between fabric and crochet.

The result is a white-on-white textile set in which the lace does not sit outside the fabric as an added border, but becomes part of the surface itself.

HANDMADE CHARACTER

The crochet lace used in each GOGOLI set is individually made by hand.

Small differences in stitch tension, scalloped contours, lace width and repeating details are natural characteristics of genuine crochet work.

The cotton fabric is cut and assembled separately, while the handmade lace is positioned and stitched onto selected areas of the textile. Decorative piko/sarma machine stitching is then used as part of the final finishing process.

These subtle variations are not defects. They preserve the presence of the hand within the finished textile and give each set its own quiet character.

FINAL PREPARATION

Because this set passes through several stages of production — including fabric sourcing, hand-crocheting of the lace, sewing and decorative piko/sarma finishing — it is professionally dry-cleaned after purchase and before dispatch as a final preparation step.

After cleaning, the completed set is checked once more and carefully packed for shipment.

Now it has found its way to you, and its story continues with you.

Care

Gentle care will help preserve the cotton fabric, handmade crochet lace and decorative piko/sarma finishing.

For routine care, wash gently in cool or lukewarm water using a mild detergent suitable for cotton and delicate textiles.

If machine washing, use a delicate cycle and low spin. Avoid washing with items containing hooks, exposed zippers or rough surfaces that may catch the lace.

Do not bleach, scrub, twist or aggressively wring the crochet sections.

Reshape the lace while damp and dry naturally whenever possible. Avoid prolonged high heat.

The plain cotton areas may be ironed at an appropriate cotton setting. Around the crochet lace and piko/sarma finished sections, use lower heat and a protective cloth.

Do not stretch or flatten the crochet lace while ironing.

Store completely clean and dry.

For the first dispatch, the set will be professionally dry-cleaned after purchase as part of GOGOLI’s final preparation process.

Design

This design is shaped not by adding lace beyond the edge of the textile, but by placing it within the cotton surface itself.

Two narrow crochet bands run along the long sides of the bed sheet, each positioned 2 cm inside the outer edge. The surrounding plain cotton remains visible on both sides of the lace, allowing the contrast between fabric and handwork to be read more clearly.

The lace is deliberately interrupted before reaching the head and foot ends. A 39 cm plain section at the head, a 170 cm lace section through the centre and a final 33 cm plain section at the foot create a measured vertical rhythm rather than a continuous decorative border.

The pillowcases repeat the same language on their opening edges. The 8 cm crochet section sits within the 56 × 49 cm cotton form rather than extending beyond it, maintaining the same visual restraint as the sheet.

Decorative piko/sarma stitching completes the textile without becoming the focus. Its role is to support the meeting point between hand-crocheted lace and plain cotton with a controlled, clean finish.

The result is a quieter interpretation of traditional lace bedding: familiar handwork placed within a more restrained textile structure.

Made in Türkiye, the set reflects GOGOLI’s approach to traditional textile craft through proportion, repetition and deliberate use of negative space.
